This study aims to thematically and comparatively examine the transmission of moral, social, and cultural values in popular children’s cartoons produced in the United States and Turkey. Cartoons such as Tom and Jerry, Mickey Mouse, Caillou, Peppa Pig, Sesame Street, Keloğlan, Rafadan Tayfa, Pepee, Niloya, and Hapşuu were analyzed. The study was conducted using a qualitative research design and evaluated through content analysis and thematic coding methods. Additionally, visual-auditory elements such as colors, character designs, sounds, and music were also considered in terms of their impact on value transmission. According to the findings, Turkish cartoons emphasize family bonds, while Western productions address the concept of family more within the context of daily life. Themes of cooperation and solidarity are strongly highlighted in productions like Rafadan Tayfa and Sesame Street, whereas individualism is more dominant in Western cartoons. Environmental awareness is conveyed in different ways through Niloya, Pepee, and Caillou. The theme of justice and equality is associated with intelligence and courage in Keloğlan, while Tom and Jerry present this theme humorously. Personal development and courage are prominent in Keloğlan and Rafadan Tayfa, whereas Peppa Pig and Tom and Jerry address these values through more entertaining content. Visual-auditory elements help children comprehend values more easily, especially through the educational songs used in Sesame Street. The study also reveals that cultural differences play a significant role in value presentation: Western cartoons tend to focus on individuality and freedom, while Turkish productions emphasize collective identity, social solidarity, and family ties. In this context, cartoons are concluded to be not only tools of entertainment but also important educational instruments that contribute to children’s value education and social development.
