Plagiarism Policy

Mentis applies a strict plagiarism policy to ensure the reliability of scientific work and uphold academic integrity. Our journal places high importance on academic honesty and expects submitted works to be original and contributory. Mentis requires correct and complete citations for all references to other works. This policy aims to encourage authors to prepare their work in compliance with ethical principles and ensure the scientific accuracy of published content.

  1. Plagiarism and Self-Plagiarism

Mentis considers the following as plagiarism:

  • Plagiarism: Using another author’s ideas, findings, or expressions without proper citation or failing to reference direct quotes constitutes plagiarism.
  • Self-Plagiarism: Reusing content from an author’s previously published work without clear citation or explanation is considered self-plagiarism.

Mentis has a zero-tolerance policy for both plagiarism and self-plagiarism and addresses such instances seriously.

  1. Originality Report and Plagiarism Detection

All submissions to Mentis must be accompanied by an originality report. Authors must verify that the work does not show high similarity to other sources and is free from plagiarism. Mentis uses reliable plagiarism detection software. Works with high similarity rates or unreferenced quotations are rejected without entering the journal’s review process.

  1. Procedure for Handling Plagiarism
  • Prior to Detection: If plagiarism is detected in a submitted work, it will be rejected without entering the peer review process. In such cases, authors are informed of the plagiarism reasons and the rejection decision.
  • During Peer Review or Post-Publication: If plagiarism is detected during peer review or after publication, Mentis editors will review the situation and take appropriate actions. If necessary, the article will be retracted from the journal, and the authors will be notified.
  1. Author Responsibilities
  • Proper Use of Sources: Authors should properly cite all references used in preparing the work. Complete citations are required for all quotes and ideas.
  • Use of Original Data: All data and findings presented must be real, original, and verifiable. Submitting false or misleading data constitutes plagiarism and will result in the rejection of the work.
  • Providing a Plagiarism Report: Authors must submit a plagiarism report with their work, certifying its originality.
  1. Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers should be vigilant for signs of plagiarism during the review process and notify editors of any unreferenced content taken from other works. Upon detecting plagiarism, reviewers should immediately share the work with editors and ensure the review process is halted.

  1. Sanctions for Plagiarism

Works found to contain plagiarism will be directly rejected, and the authors will be informed. If plagiarism is identified in a published article, it will be retracted from the journal and publicly announced. Mentis is committed to enforcing sanctions against scientific ethical violations for plagiarized articles.

  1. Right to Appeal

Authors have the right to appeal decisions based on suspected plagiarism. If authors believe the decision is incorrect, they may submit a detailed explanation to the journal editors. Editors will review the case again and inform the authors of the outcome.

Mentis strictly enforces its plagiarism policies and takes necessary measures to ensure compliance with scientific ethical standards. This policy guarantees that all works published in the journal are original, reliable, and contributory to the scientific community.
