Writing Guidelines
Articles submitted to Mentis Journal must be prepared according to these writing guidelines to reflect the highest standards of scientific quality and academic format. The rules below cover key elements to consider during submission.
- General Format
- Font and Size: All text should be written in Baskerville, 11-point font.
- Margins: Set top and bottom margins to 2.5 cm, and left and right margins to 2 cm.
- Paragraph Format: The text should be justified, with no word breaks at the end of lines. A single line space should be left between paragraphs, with no indentation at the beginning.
- Headings: Main headings (Introduction, Method, Findings, Discussion, and Conclusion) should be in uppercase, bold, and 11-point font. Subheadings should be bold with only the first letter capitalized, and hierarchical numbering should be avoided.
- Emphasis: Use italics or quotation marks (“”) instead of bold for emphasis.
- Article Title and Author Information
- Article Title: Should be in Baskerville, 14-point font, bold, and left-aligned; only the first letters should be capitalized.
- Author Names and Information: Include author names, affiliations, and ORCID numbers. The corresponding author should be indicated, and contact information should be provided.
- Abstract and Keywords
- Abstract: The article should begin with abstracts in both Turkish and English, each between 150-200 words and written in the past tense. No tables, figures, or citations should be included, and information not covered in the article should be avoided.
- Keywords: Include 3-5 keywords in both languages, written in lowercase and separated by commas.
- Section Structure
- Introduction: Explain the theoretical framework, literature review, and research questions. Do not use subheadings.
- Method: Describe the research design, sample, data collection tools and procedures, data analysis, as well as validity and reliability.
- Findings: Present research findings, supported by tables and figures, and interpret findings as needed.
- Discussion and Conclusion: Compare findings with the literature and explain the practical significance of the research. Recommendations can also be included in this section.
- Author Declarations: Include declarations about author contributions, conflict of interest, funding, and acknowledgments.
- Tables and Figures
- Placement: Tables and figures should be embedded in appropriate places within the text, not provided as appendices.
- Font: Prepare tables in Baskerville, 12-point font. Place table titles above tables and figure captions below figures.
- Numbering: Number tables and figures according to their order in the text.
- Citations and References
- Citations: Direct quotations should be indented 1 cm from the main text and written in 9-point font.
- References: Prepare the references section according to APA 7 format, starting on a separate page.
- Additional Information
- Footnotes: Avoid footnotes where possible; if necessary, use Amasis MT Pro in 8-point font.
- Lists: Prefer horizontal listing over vertical listing. Use Roman numerals [(i), (ii), (iii)] for listing items.
Articles prepared according to these writing guidelines will be taken into the review process at Mentis Journal, expediting the publication process.
